Purpose of this group

To play and/or sing songs from the 1960s pop music scene, for our own interest and amusement.

Beatles songs feature strongly but also songs by their peer artists from that period.

Instruments include acoustic guitars and any other complementary instruments used by those bands e.g. bass guitar, organ, drums, harmonica, tambourine etc. Sorry but ukuleles will not be included – they are already well catered for by other study groups.

If you just prefer to sing then that's fine.

Operation

We meet once a month at Dave Cadd’s house. If you are coming for the first time we will be in the garden room at the bottom of the back garden. Come through the side gate and look for us.

Start time is 10.00am. We have coffee and biscuits at about 11.15, for which there is a £1 donation. We finish around 12.30pm.

We have a standard set of song sheets which can be downloaded from our download page (see the link above). However, be prepared to go "off menu" as some members like to launch into a song that just comes into their head. If you don't have the notes and can't play then you will generally find that you can at least sing along as you draw the words from some deep recess in your memory. That's what happens when we play songs from the era that formed who you are.

Joining

If you would like to join then email Dave Cadd, the group leader, using the email links near the top of this page. He will give you the address to come to.
